Biography: I was born a little south of Chicago and lived there most of my life. Shortly after becoming a single mom to 5, I packed up and moved us across the country to Colorado for a fresh start. We came here knowing no one, but have built a beautiful life for ourselves. I currently work as a full-time sub in a middle school and I absolutely love it! The students who are about to leave and go to high school are the ones who convinced me to start college and get my middle school math degree and they check in with me all the time to see if I am still doing it. I am attending WGU so that I can work on my own schedule and at my own pace.
Reaction Statement: I was so shocked and flattered to be chosen for this scholarship. As stated in my essay, my life revolves around service to others in and out of the home. It is such an honor to be chosen for this scholarship.
